Once you start home phototherapy with a Daavlin unit, here is what you can expect. This is for Narrowband UVB and Broadband UVB.
Most patients see some clearing of their skin condition in 2-6 weeks of treatment. This is if treatments are administered consistently.
Phototherapy effects start to take effect roughly 6 hours after treatment.
Two phototherapy treatments should not be sooner than 24 hours apart.
For most people, 2-3 phototherapy treatments per week are needed.
Skin clears faster for many patients with a topical steroid used afterwards. Examples include Dovonex, Taclonex, steroid preparations, and tars.
For Broadband UVB, pinking of the skin without pain is ideal.
For Narrowband UVB, there should be less pinking.
Face and genitals should be covered during light treatment, unless the skin condition is present.
For all of these items, and any other questions, it is necessary to follow directon of your doctor / dermatologist.

Here are some helpful tips for phototherapy bulbs.
1. Do not touch the bulbs without gloves. Oils from the skin can shorten their life.
2. Don’t accidentally bump the bulbs. They can break or it can loosen the fixtures.
3. Don’t turn them on over and over in a short period. That can be hard on the electronics.

The photo below shows skin with Psoriasis after phototherapy. The photo below was taken 24 hours after treatment. The patient in this photo was told by their doctor that it is ideal to have a slight amount of pink color to the skin within a day. By pushing their light just a bit each time, the Psoriasis will heal over time better.
